So I wasn't even sure I was going to do one of these for this guy, but work is slow and yet still going to be late, so I've got nothing better to do than look for gifs.

Mmmm, gifs.

The guy on the left

So back in 1989, Tanya Huff published one of her earliest books, about the forces of Dark and Light going to war in modern Toronto. Representing Dark was the Dark Adept and a number of entirely disposable (no really) terrible people. Representing Light was a Light Adept, three women representing the three aspects of the Trifold Goddess, a cat, and this guy.

Yeah, he's not always entirely sure how that happened, either. Or how they won.

Still the one on the left

He is pretty sure he doesn't want to stick around Toronto to be reminded of being kidnapped by evil and then rescued -- more than once -- by a cat, so he's headed into the wild blue yonder, guided by a (very) faint sense of bardic tradition, most of which he learned from his uncle Tony, and the occasional musical commentary of his harp -- a souvenir of the whole "kidnapped by evil" thing, he'll learn to play it soon he promises -- and Patience, his guitar -- which totally never talked to him before this whole Light/Dark nonsense.

Left.

But lets get back to the basics, shall we? Roland Chapman is 28 years old. He's from 1989 Toronto. He's been playing the guitar for fourteen years, and never knew until very recently that the whole time he was actually learning to be a bard. Which means he's not very good at being a bard yet, and still hasn't quite gotten his whole brain around the concept, despite having used his guitar to perform actual magic, including summoning the freaking Trifold Goddess to battle the forces of darkness. He still has 7 more years of playing before he becomes a full-fledged master bard, though, so he's hopefully got time to get a better handle on all that.

He's a little (okay, maybe a lot) grumpy, and a little (also a lot) traumatized. He doesn't like cats, but he's at least less likely to want to try to kick them, these days. His musical instruments sometimes sound by themselves. He can see ghosts and faeries (even those not everyone else can), and he describes people and things he meets in terms of music. He really, really, really doesn't like cops.

He's on the right this time! We're very proud of him.

His PB is Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords, which is why it's very hard to find gifs of just him and not him and Jemaine and also why I've had "Bret, You've Got It Going On" stuck in my head all day, today.

"Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks that his booty is fly?"

Roland will be 'round about town with his guitar busking for a living. Because he's also really, really bad at holding down jobs. You should all come say "hi" to him and put money in his guitar case. And request songs he doesn't know because he's, like, 24 years behind on pop music.

Catching up on 24 years of boy bands and Disney Channel stars

So, yeah. Possibly not the most helpful info post ever. But gifs! So now questions? Pie?
